Glimmer misted script paper

Priorities. I missed Grey's anatomy last week so I had to watch it tonite to catch up! I did manage to get a tutorial done for you using glimmer mist and the Crafty Secret's "Journaling" script stamp tonite. I've done this technique quite a bit when I make vintage cards; I like to experiment with different patterned papers and see what effect I can get with the glimmer mist and the script stamp; it's different every time! I tried to type out the steps directly on the tutorial photos; it makes it a little easier to read, I think.

So here's where I started. I experimented with 2 soft pinkish papers from the Crafty Secrets "Classic" paper pad. We'll go pink for Breast Cancer awareness today. There are 2 processes to note here..you can stamp the script stamp on the paper BEFORE you glimmer mist, and you'll get a blurry, aged look to the paper. On the pink sheet I just stamped the upper edge of the paper first, and left the rest blank to stamp after I glimmer mist, to show you the difference.

Spray Sugar cookie glimmer mist all over the papers and immediately take your heat gun and start drying the glimmer mist. I have found it works well to heat the front side first until it's dry to the touch, then turn the paper over and heat the backside of the paper. It will flatten out somewhat. Stamp your script stamp over the top of the dried glimmer mist. I used Tim Holtz "Vintage Photograph" distress ink for the pink paper, but for the lighter yellow paper I used "Linen", as it gives a softer effect and doesn't overwhelm the background. I've found that it's key to choose a glimmer mist color that coordinates with your paper...if you're using red paper, use red glimmer mist. Blue paper, use a blue-tinted mist. For these soft papers I went with Sugar cookie, which gives a soft yellowish/cream effect. When you're finished stamping, take the same ink color and run it along the edges of the paper to complete the distressed look. In addition, I've stamped my white focal image paper with the same script stamp in the lighter linen colored distress ink, which is soft and will not overwhelm your main image. I didn't even mask it here...I stamped the angel right over the top of the script and then colored her in.

Click on some of the closeups to see the effect...it's so hard to get good photos so that you can see the shimmer on the paper!

Here is the same process done on white paper with terra cotta glimmer mist. I used this paper with a lot of the Crafty Halloween cards & cat chipboard album that I posted already. If you've got a script stamp and the glimmer mist, give it a try! You'll get completely unique effects every time.
Laurie, I am definitely going to try glimmer misting some Christmas cards. I have a snowflake idea that I want to try out. (I don't have the sapphire blue but I bet it's beautiful!)
