Playing with Glimmer Mist

I completely cracked up at Leigh O'Brien's comments on my garage graffiti post! She writes: "I find it ironic that I jumped over from E.P.'s newsletter post about the glimmer sprays and found a photo that says 'Spritz me'. It is kind of ironic, huh? So if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Tonite I'm spritzing up a storm with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I'm getting the most use out of the walnut gold right now, but I know on my next Eclectic Paperie order I'm going to get some other colors. The problem is, which ones?

This card is a very simple layout, no embellishments, because I wanted to play around with the glimmer mist to see exactly what you can do with it. If you could see the card in person you'd know why no embellishments are needed; the focus of the card ends up being all the shimmer and glitter!

What I've found when working with the glimmer mist, is that it will make your paper warp a bit. It helps to have your heat gun handy and after spraying it on your paper, run heat over the top of it so that it dries quickly to minimize the warping. I also went over the dried paper with an iron, taking care to layer a piece of typing paper over the top so that I didn't burn the glitter off. I tried to get a shot of the paper before the glimmer mist and after...can you see the difference in this shot? The paper is new Cosmo Cricket Gretel: Autumn. I also spritzed the glimmer mist over the top of the Anna Griffin stamped image. Make sure you're using a black ink that doesn't run when it gets wet...I tend to use Ranger's Jet Black Archival ink because it holds up really well. The stamp is by "All night media"; I bought it on clearance at Michael's. The glitter around the edge of the image is Martha Stewart's white gold glitter. I grabbed the white gold by mistake instead of the yellow gold which would of matched the glimmer mist better, but I think it ended up looking ok. The image was colored using an aquapainter and markers, and the edges of the paper was distressed using Tim Holtz Vintage Photograph distress ink.

Wow! I can't believe you made that yourself. It's so perfectly colored and aged. I definitely thought it was from an art page or something. You're awesome!
