Vintage Millinery Hats

I was able to score these beautiful hats from my Mom, who was selling them at the garage sale this weekend. They belonged to a great-aunt of mine that has long since passed away. Before the sale opened, I grabbed these 5 hats because of the sweet little silk flowers all over them. She was selling them for $1.00 each, so I thought that I'd be able to salvage the flowers and use them on my cards. After admiring them for a few days, I decided they are too beautiful to rip apart. I wanted to share them with everyone! Aren't they beautiful!

Today I was home all day, putzing around the house, cleaning and doing more card layouts. I'm working on a bunch of thank-you cards now..... I'm back to using the "Pristine" collection from Paper Salon, which I got in my last Eclectic Paperie order. I had been putting away all the stamp sets that didn't sell from the garage sale, and found this cartooney coffee-mug stamp, by Uptown Rubber Stamps called "Coffee Cup". I have no idea how old it is, but I would bet it's one of the first few stamps I bought, YEARS ago. This just proves that you can freshen up any of your older stamps by using newer patterned paper! The polka dot flowers are from the "Create-a-Flower" set by Paper Salon.

Look at the sweet little strawberry hanging off the side of this hat. There are also vintage rhinestones and beautiful, thin netting scattered throughout the flowers.

I wish women still wore hats like that! Maybe we should all start up the trend again. I think it's a great idea to take them apart for cards, but I don't blame you for being unable to.
